Nintendo has reassured gamers considering the purchase of the Nintendo Switch 2, confirming that the new console is designed as a long-term platform and will receive support for many years after its launch.
The statement came from Nintendo President Shuntaro Furukawa, who explained that the lifecycle of the Switch 2 is expected to mirror that of the original Nintendo Switch, which has enjoyed continuous software and hardware support for more than eight years since its debut.
Based on these plans, Nintendo is expected to support the Switch 2 until around 2033 or even beyond through a steady lineup of exclusive games and new content. This long-term commitment is intended to give consumers greater confidence in the platform, despite the expected price increase to $500 starting this September.
The company also confirmed that it is building a strong first-party game lineup to keep the console appealing for years to come. Upcoming titles include Yoshi and the Mysterious Book, a new entry in the Star Fox series, and Splatoon Raiders.
Meanwhile, rumors continue to circulate about a possible remake of The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, which many believe could become one of Nintendo's biggest holiday releases if officially announced.
Although Switch 2 sales have recently slowed compared to the PlayStation 5, Nintendo remains confident in its long-term strategy of supporting the console with a consistent stream of high-quality exclusive games, aiming to keep the platform successful for many years.
